2014 Coastal Cleanup

Westwind would like to take a second to acknowledge and thank all those who participated in the 2014 Coastal Cleanup Day!

Every year, on the third Saturday in September, people join together at sites all over California to take part in the State's largest volunteer event, California Coastal Cleanup Day. In 2013, over 58,000 volunteers removed almost 750,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from California's beaches, lakes, and waterways…The event is part of the International Coastal Cleanup, organized by the Ocean Conservancy, which is the largest volunteer event on the planet!” California Coastal Commission”

On September 20th, Lisa and her husband Tom Hazelton, of our Westwind celebrities, “the Donnas”, led a group of kayakers in the Dana Point Harbor to help clean up our beautiful playground. We are very appreciative of the group for their hard work and joining this very important cause.

When asked to reflect their experience, Tom and Lisa said, “Thank you all for your time and effort in helping to keep our harbor pristine! We collected a total of 13 lbs of trash and covered 5 miles of shoreline. Thank you again to the Dana Point Yacht Club for sponsoring this event! Many thanks to Westwind Sailing for the use of the kayaks, paddles and life vests! We’d also like to thank our fabulous photographers, Bob Warren and Deborah Remeyer for these fabulous pictures.”
