In
Dana Point, our Juniors and Teens sail year round – day
camps and classes at spring and summer breaks, and classes after
school and weekends during the rest of the year. Over 1500 kids
attend our program annually - many of whom are returning customers.
Our students remember Westwind as a quality, professional program
where they've met new friends, had fun in a safe environment and
for many, experienced sailing for the first time.
Sailing is the perfect medium to practice safety
and respect in and around boats and the aquatic environment.
This lifelong sport engages the mental thought process and develops
motor skills while building self-confidence and encouraging teamwork.
Children may begin our group programs at age
6 - and the sky is the limit from there. Please refer to the
schedule
of classes to find a program to suit your child’s age
range and skill level.
Our Junior / Teen Club is open to kids who have
completed level 2 Junior or Teen sailing. It’s designed
as a casual and inexpensive way to stay involved with sailing
and kids who sail – without having to own your own boat.
Our club activities include: fun sails, regattas, holiday activities,
pizza parties, tall ship and keelboat sailing, and Mission Bay
and Catalina trips. Please e mail or call our office for more
information and a current schedule of club events. westwind@westwindsailing.com (949) 492-3035.
Westwind Junior / Teen Club members who are 12 and 13 years old are automatically eligible for the Sea
Scout Ship 936, Jr. Mariner Program. As a Jr. Mariner, you can learn to race on Lasers and 420s, utilize Mariner equipment including Capris, Hunter 17, Lasers and small power boats, attend most Mariner sail days, and you have the potential to advance in rank upon joining the Mariners at age 14!
