Ready, Set, Wear It! - Lifejacket World Record
On Saturday, May 19, sailors and paddlers at Westwind Sailing, Mariner Sea Scouts, and Dana Outriggers in Dana Point, California will gather to set a world record for the most life jackets worn and inflatable life jackets inflated.
The event will take place on May 19, 12 noon at the Sailing Center. Westwind will be hosting JAWS Adaptive Boating Camp, as well as regular scheduled activities. Mariner Sea Scouts and Dana Outrigger paddlers will be on the water as well.
“Our goal is to educate the public and bring awareness to the importance of wearing a lifejacket,” said Diane Wenzel, Executive Director at Westwind Sailing. “We anticipate over 100 enthusiastic boaters and sailors at the Center will help to set the world record.” Read More
SUP for 60 Oakley International Managers
On April 23,2012 Oakley International’s worldwide marketing team gathered in Dana Point for a full day of meetings and activities. The marketing team attendees came from the United States, Europe, Asia, and South American.
At 5 p.m., 60 team members came jogging down the hill from the Marriott, Laguna Cliffs to meet the Westwind Sailing / Paddling crew. Westwind staff spent the next hour and a half StandUp paddling with the group while training them in proper stroke technique and safety.

Dana Point Aquatic Foundation Type V Lifejacket Fundraiser

The Dana Point Aquatic Foundation is a CA, non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose purpose to provide access to and support for the Community Boating and Recreation programs at the OC Sailing & Events Center.
Donate $60 to help support the DPAF and get a light weight, wearable pfd that’s perfect for SUP (and required for lots of races!) Your donation is completely tax deductible. Cost: SUP: $25 hr., $35 1.5 hr., $40 2 hr. Kayak (single or double): $20 hr., $30 1.5 hr.
• Mon - Sun: 10 am - 4 pm. Weather and conditions dependent.
Stand Up Paddle Fitness
Ages: 14 yr. and up
Cost: $15 + $5 per session or $135 + $50 for a 10 session pass card
• Tues: 8:30-9:45 am.
• Wed: 6:30-7:45 am.
• Sat: 8 - 9:15 am.
Jr/Teen Sailing Club
Ages: 10 - 17 yrs.
Cost: $40 club registration fee (Feb-May) + $15 per activity
• Saturday: 10 am - 12:30 pm
Westwind Sailing Club
Ages: 18 yrs. and up
Cost: $40 club registration fee (Feb-May) + $20 fee per activity
• Saturdays 10 am - 12:30 pm., Sunday: 10 am - 1:30 pm
